James Allen

A Brief History

Van Cleef & Arpels started back in 1896, when Alfred Van Cleef and his uncle Salomon Arpels, created the company. The first store was a pen up store situated right across the road from the Ritz Carlton, in Place Vendome in Paris.

From there on out, Van Cleef & Arpels have grown to become one of the most famous luxury jewelry brands in the world, on par with Tiffany & Co and Harry Winston. Boasting over a century in the jewelry industry, Van Cleef & Arpels have boutiques in countries all over the world.

What Van Cleef & Arpels Offer

Van Cleef & Arpels offer clients a truly luxurious brand name, built with over a century of work and finding their footing in the jewelry industry as a stand-out designer. The Van Cleef & Arpels name is what clients pay a premium price for, and the brand name does matter to most to spend that extra amount of money.

The jewelry at Van Cleef & Arpels is also made with precision and exquisite craftsmanship. Their pieces are truly exceptional, and while this does count for a higher price tag, there is a bit of an extra price hike due to the brand name.

Their jewelry is of great quality, and customers will find a great range of products in-store.

What Makes Van Cleef & Arpels Stand Out?

Beautiful jewelry – It must be stated that the diamonds and jewelry sold at Van Cleef & Arpels are incredibly beautiful. Their luxurious brand can be held up by the quality of their engagement rings and diamonds, even if the price is higher than it should be.

Experience – Being over a century old, Van Cleef & Arpels have built their company on a wide base of knowledge with regards to engagement rings and diamonds, and their staff does show this knowledge when helping customers make a decision.

In-store jewelry – Being primarily a brick and mortar jewelry retailer, Van Cleef & Arpels offer clients the option to view the engagement rings and diamonds first hand. This cements a safety which many feel lacking when purchasing online.

Customization - Van Cleef & Arpels sell their settings and diamonds separately, allowing customers the opportunity to mix and match their desired ring and setting to create their perfect piece.

Van Cleef & Arpels Pricing

Van Cleef & Arpels do have some wonderfully beautiful diamonds and engagement rings, but the price tag that the pieces hold are very exaggerated. This can be put down to the company being a high-end luxury brand, catering to clients who are prepared to spend a larger amount on a brand name, and to the company still selling from actual stores, which unlike online stores, pushes the prices up due to overheads.

You will most certainly find a similar quality diamond and engagement ring, for nearly half the price at times, when shopping at James Allen or Blue Nile, online stores who help their customers find affordable, yet great quality engagement rings.

Custom Orders

Branded as “Your Poetic Setting”, Van Cleef & Arpels give their customers the opportunity to personalize their own ring design, creating the perfect engagement ring that celebrates their individual love story.

Diamonds can be chosen, but need to adhere to strict guidelines with regards to quality, and then a range of six different settings to house the diamonds are paired up to the diamond.

While this isn’t a complete design from a beginning sketch, it does offer clients the chance to feel as though they have had their desired ring brought to life.

In order to do this, customers must visit one of the Van Cleef & Arpels boutiques for more information.

Website Ease of Use

The website for Van Cleef & Arpels is what you would expect of a company of this class level. It is elegant and full of beautiful imagery, showcasing their designer collections and best pieces.

The site itself is fairly easy to use, navigating easily to engagement rings where you are able to filter down options. However, the filtering options available are not incredibly helpful, and you will have to do some extra work to find the ring you are looking for.

The site does show off some of the other jewelry offered by the store, and clearly lists the other services offered by Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as diamond education that can help with the buying decision.

Customer Service

For a brand that oozes class and luxury, it can be difficult to get proper customer service in store if you do not match their usual clientele. However, the staff helping with sales in-store does tend to have great experience with diamonds and engagement rings, even if they do try to steer customers to the more expensive items.

Engraving service - Van Cleef & Arpels offer a complimentary engraving service for jewelry, to mark a magical moment onto an engagement ring.

Shining service – The Shining Service is a complimentary service which helps to revive the brilliance of a ring by re-shining the engagement ring or jewelry in-store or in a workshop.

Shipping - Van Cleef & Arpels do offer to ship to the USA, Europe, and other countries.

Van Cleef & Arpels Financing Options

Van Cleef & Arpels offer three different payment options, which include credit cards, a bank transfer or cash on delivery for orders done online. If you are wanting to finance your options, you will have to apply for an external loan or use your credit card.

Why You Should Choose Van Cleef & Arpels
